As you prepare for life after birth, know that support is already here waiting for you. Our postpartum doulas bring warm, grounded care for your fourth trimester, so you can feel ready long before the newborn haze sets in. We help you plan for rest, recovery, and feeling truly supported in the days and weeks ahead. Think of us as part educator, part encourager, part extra set of hands. We're there to make life feel just a little lighter while you focus on healing and getting to know your baby.

Our care is tailored to you, from the amount of support you need down to each individual visit. We believe every postpartum period is as unique as your family, so instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we shape our support around what you and your baby actually need—day by day, visit by visit.

How Do Postpartum Doulas Support Families?

FEEDING SUPPORT

However you feed your baby...

You deserve encouragement, not judgment.

Whether you're breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, formula feeding, or doing a combination of it all, we'll help you troubleshoot, answer questions, and cheer you on.

If additional lactation support is needed, we're happy to connect you with trusted providers in the Milwaukee area.

AROUND THE HOUSE

Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference.

While you're feeding your baby or catching a nap, we can help with light household tasks like:

Baby laundry

Washing bottles and pump parts

Tidying the nursery

Meal prep

Snack preparation

Organizing baby supplies

Just enough to help your home feel a little lighter.

NEWBORN CARE

You're getting to know your baby.

We're here to help you feel confident doing it.

We can support you with:

✓ Diapering and bathing

✓ Swaddling and soothing

✓ Infant sleep education

✓ Understanding baby's cues

Our goal isn't to take over. It's to help you feel confident caring for your baby long after we leave.

RECOVERY AFTER BIRTH

Your baby isn't the only one adjusting.

Recovery takes time.

So does becoming a parent.

We'll encourage you to slow down, rest when you can, eat nourishing meals, drink enough water, and give yourself grace during this season.

Because caring for yourself isn't selfish.

It's part of caring for your baby.

Why Families Love Having a Postpartum Doula

It's not because we hold babies.

It's because we help parents feel capable.

We reassure you when you're second-guessing yourself.

We celebrate the little victories.

We mother the mother.

And we're there when you simply need another adult in the room.

Every family needs a different level of support. Whether you're looking for a few hours of extra help or ongoing care during your fourth trimester, we offer flexible postpartum doula packages designed for you.

Daytime Postpartum Doula Care

Our highest level of doula support — with the bonus of clinical care

Get the best of both worlds: compassionate, individualized doula care blended with the clinical expertise of a certified nurse midwife.

During a daytime visit, your doula is right there with you, handling hands-on newborn care and education, laundry, light home organization, and cooking or meal prep so you have one less thing to think about. Whether you want to rest, a much deserved nap, or simply sit and hold your baby while asking every question on your mind, your doula is there to support whatever you need in the moment.

*Most families feel best supported with 1 to 3 visit a week for the first 4-6 weeks of recovery. Each visit can be between 3-5 hours based on your preference.

Overnight Postpartum Doula Care

Expanded doula care with the professional touch of a licensed provider

During an overnight visit, your doula takes on infant care through the night so you can actually sleep. That includes formula preparation, bottle and pump cleaning and sanitization, safe handling and storage of breast milk, and light kitchen and living space tidying, all while following safe sleep guidelines. You wake up rested, with a well cared for baby, a tidier home, and feeling a little more like yourself.

*Our families find 2 to 5 shifts a week over the first 6 to 12 weeks the most helpful, tapering down as things settle. Overnight visits typically run 8 to 10 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula provides emotional, educational, and practical support during the weeks after birth. Your doula helps with newborn care, feeding support, postpartum recovery, sibling adjustment, meal preparation, light household tasks, and answering questions so you can feel confident as you settle into life with your new baby.

Is hiring a postpartum doula worth it?

Many families say postpartum support was one of the best investments they made after having a baby! Rather than navigating recovery and newborn care alone, you'll have an experienced professional to answer questions, provide reassurance, help you rest, and support your entire family during one of life's biggest transitions.

When should I hire a postpartum doula?

The best time to reserve postpartum doula support is during pregnancy, especially if you know you'll want help after birth. However, it's never too late. We often begin supporting families in the first few days after delivery or even several weeks or months postpartum.

What is the difference between a postpartum doula and a night nanny?

A postpartum doula is trained to support the entire family, not just the baby. While we help with newborn care, we also provide education, emotional support, feeding guidance, postpartum recovery support, and practical help around the home. A night nanny's primary role is infant care while parents sleep.

Can postpartum doulas help with breastfeeding?

Yes! Our postpartum doulas are trained in basic Lactation, and provide evidence-based infant feeding support, whether you're breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, or combination feeding. We can help with positioning, latch, newborn feeding behaviors, and recognizing when a referral to an IBCLC or healthcare provider would be beneficial.

How long do families usually use a postpartum doula for?

Every family is different. Some schedule just a few visits during the first week home, while others receive ongoing support for several weeks or months. We'll work with you to create a schedule that fits your recovery, feeding goals, family dynamics, and comfort level.

Does insurance over doula support?

Unfortunately, no. However, many employers are now offering family planning allowances that cover Doula services. It’s worth checking with your HR department to see if this is offered for you or your spouse!
