Certified Nurse-Midwife Job Opening
Community Home Birth Practice | Waukesha, Wisconsin
Who We Are
Family Focused Midwifery provides personalized, evidence-informed home birth care to families throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. We believe pregnancy and birth care should feel relational, supportive, and individualized while maintaining high standards for safety and clinical care.
Our model allows us to spend meaningful time with families throughout pregnancy, prepare them well for birth and postpartum, and support physiologic birth while maintaining clear clinical guidelines for consultation, collaboration, and transfer when needed.
As our practice grows, we are intentionally building a collaborative team where midwives can provide meaningful, relationship-based care without carrying the responsibility of running a practice or being on call alone.
We want our midwives to have sustainable careers, meaningful time away from work, and a team they can rely on.
What It's Like to Work Here
Family Focused Midwifery is a growing community-based practice where collaboration, professionalism, communication, and excellent clinical care matter.
Our midwives work together rather than practicing in isolation. Clients have the opportunity to know the midwives who may attend their birth, while midwives benefit from shared call, backup coverage, administrative support, and clinical collaboration.
We value midwives who trust physiologic birth while also recognizing when consultation, intervention, or transfer is the safest next step.
Our goal is to create a practice where both families and the clinicians caring for them feel well supported.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) interested in becoming part of our growing community birth practice.
We are intentionally keeping this position flexible and are open to building the role collaboratively with the right candidate. Depending on experience, availability, interests, and the needs of the practice, the position may include a combination of prenatal care, home birth attendance, postpartum and newborn care, shared call, and clinical support.
The role may begin on a smaller part-time or PRN basis and grow as our practice and clinical team expand. We are open to discussing different scheduling and call arrangements and want to create a position that is sustainable for both the midwife and the practice.
Responsibilities may include:
Providing prenatal care and client education
Attending home births as part of a collaborative midwifery team
Providing postpartum and newborn care
Participating in a shared call schedule
Providing telephone or portal triage as appropriate
Collaborating with the practice owner/CNM, RN birth assistants, and other members of the clinical team
Maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation
Coordinating consultation or transfer to hospital-based care when clinically indicated
Participating in team meetings, case reviews, emergency drills, and continuing education
Contributing to the continued development and growth of the practice
Specific clinical hours, expected birth volume, call responsibilities, and scheduling will be determined collaboratively based on the candidate's availability and the needs of the practice.
